What should a kitchen remodel cost?
Our contractor estimated $75K for our kitchen remodel. Is this within the normal range? We received a quote from a company for a kitchen renovation that includes: Installing a new vent for the kitchen stove, which involves running a pipe through a wall and out the window of an adjacent room (the current range hood is not connected to anything and simply blows air around the room). Additionally, new kitchen cabinets, floor tiles, countertops, and lighting. All current kitchen appliances will be kept, as they were recently replaced. The quoted price is $75K. We are also considering renting somewhere during the construction, which would be an additional cost. If they don't complete the work on time (they estimate a month, but I suspect it may take longer since they are offering a deal with no penalties for delays), that would add extra costs for renting while living away from home. With everything included, is $75K a reasonable price?
The cost of a kitchen remodel can vary widely, ranging from a few thousand dollars to over $100,000. Factors that affect the cost include: Size of the kitchen, Scope of work, Custom features etc. Get multiple quotes & Compare quotes from different contractors and suppliers.
We did a complete gut-and-rebuild remodel of our kitchen back in 2019. The kitchen had already been previously remodeled some time in the 1990s and the quality of the workmanship was truly horrible. Also, the appliances were all dying and needed replacing in any case. The whole project cost about $75k (we live in North Carolina) and it has been completely worth it for us.
