A project manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a specific project to ensure its successful completion. Let’s say you're building a house. It involves many different professionals—plumbers, framers, electricians, flooring installers, drywallers, painters, and more. But who manages when they come in? Who ensures there’s no overlap in their work and that everything is done in the right order? In construction, this role is typically filled by a general contractor, who coordinates all the moving parts to make sure the house is built efficiently and correctly. In business, the role of a project manager is similar. Whether it's for software development, project creation, content production, or any other initiative, a PM coordinates with people working in different areas to ensure everything is done properly. They’re also responsible for keeping the project on track in terms of budget and deadlines. Though it may seem like a PM isn't always necessary, their role is crucial, especially for large projects. A bad project manager can derail a project, while a good one can be invaluable and worth their weight in gold.
