Public Health & Environmental Laboratory

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is the state agency responsible for protecting and improving the health and well-being of Nebraskans by delivering public health services, behavioral health, children and family services, developmental disabilities supports, Medicaid and long-term care programs, licensing and regulatory oversight, and a range of assistance programs. The department’s mission is “Helping People Live Better Lives,” and the department provides statewide services through multiple divisions, regional offices, hotlines, and online systems to support disease prevention, vital records, economic and healthcare assistance, licensing, and crisis response while enabling data-driven public health and social service delivery.
