At Paulson's Floor Coverings, flooring is more than a business-it's a family legacy built over four generations. It all began in 1921 when Guy W. Paulson started making window shades from his Portland home. Working side-by-side with his wife Bess, Guy built a reputation for quality and service, laying the foundation for what would become a lasting family enterprise. Over the next decades, Guy expanded into linoleum, carpeting, and blinds-often partnering with his brothers and close friends to grow the business across Oregon and Washington. After Guy's passing in 1948, his son Richard Sr. carried the torch, guiding the company through post-war challenges and helping it thrive in a booming Portland. In 1985, his sons Richard Jr. and Don took over, modernizing operations while staying true to the values their grandfather had instilled. The fourth generation-Tyler and Ryan Paulson-started in the family warehouse as teenagers and learned every corner of the business. They officially stepped into leadership in 2007 and have since expanded Paulson's presence with new locations in Beaverton, Vancouver, Bend, and Tri-Cities. Today, more than 100 years since its founding, Paulson's Floor Coverings remains family-owned and deeply committed to the people we serve.
