Inspired ADUs

Inspired ADUs is an Oakland-based, award-winning ADU design firm specializing in accessory dwelling units that function as fully realized homes rather than simple backyard structures, serving clients across the Greater Bay Area and Southern California. The company offers a flexible menu of services centered on ADU design, including existing catalog plans, custom-designed cottages, panelized kits, and modular “Prefab Millie” options, along with construction management, interior design, furniture procurement, and aging-in-place design support. Inspired ADUs maintains a large catalog of over 70 ADU layouts, from compact studios to spacious two-story units, and emphasizes giving clients the freedom to curate their own ADU journey—either customizing pre-designed plans or creating bespoke designs from scratch—while the company guides projects from concept through permitting and build coordination. With more than 20 years of experience, over 90 cottages built, and more than 200 permitted, the company focuses on creating expertly designed, highly personalized backyard living experiences that elevate clients’ lifestyles and provide adaptable, high-quality housing solutions.
