A fence contractor measures the property, helps choose materials and style, sets posts and builds fence panels and gates, and repairs damaged sections or failing posts.
Confirm your property lines, often with a survey, and check local height and setback rules, pool barrier requirements and HOA restrictions. Underground utilities should be marked before posts are dug.
Compare written estimates on materials, post depth and setting method, gate hardware, removal of old fencing and warranties. Ask who handles permits and utility locates.
Cost depends on fence length and height, material, terrain and slope, gates, removal of an old fence, soil or rock conditions and permit requirements.
Know where property lines are, clear brush and items along the fence line, and mark sprinkler lines. Talk with neighbors when the fence sits near a shared boundary.
