A gutter contractor measures and installs gutters and downspouts, sets the slope so water drains, adds guards and extensions, and repairs leaks, sagging sections and damaged hangers. Many make seamless gutters on site.
Guards can reduce how often gutters clog, especially near trees, but they still need periodic checking and cleaning. Different designs handle leaves and pine needles differently, so ask installers how their product suits the trees around your home.
Compare gutter size, material and thickness, hanger type and spacing, downspout placement and warranty terms. Ask how the installer will handle drainage at ground level so water does not pool near the foundation.
Cost depends on the length of gutters, material such as aluminum, steel or copper, gutter size, the number of downspouts and corners, roof height, removal of old gutters, fascia repairs and guards.
Clear the ground along the roofline so ladders can be placed safely, move vehicles away from the house and point out any fascia damage you have noticed. Decide where you want downspouts to discharge.
